General English * (9:00~12:00)

Develops a full range of skills from beginner to advanced levels

Covers listening, speaking, reading & writing as well as grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary

All classes include weekly testing

Students will learn communicative competence

Intensive Speaking & Listening  (9:00~12:00)

Intensive focus on listening, speaking and pronunciation skills

Extensive use of authentic materials, multi-media and audio recording equipment

Weekly skill evaluation

Speaking Clinic *  (1:00~2:10)

Practice and improve functional speaking skills and overall communicative competence

Focus on authentic conversational language, grammar accuracy, vocabulary, and pronunciation

Intense error correction with weekly evaluation

Written Arts *  (1:00~2:10)

Students learn to effectively develop and express ideas with appropriate vocabulary and grammar

Takes the student from no previous instruction in writing to advanced college level

Students practice the ?śwrite-revise-rewrite??cycle with written and spoken feedback

Listening Clinic *  (2:20~3:30)

Students practice listening tasks such as sequencing, note taking, completing graphs, general comprehension,

listening for detail, and so on to improve listening skills

Students follow the VIC Listening Steps and are evaluated daily

Communication Arts *  (2:20~3:30)

Improves speaking and communication skills through intense practice

Focuses on authentic conversational language including slang, idioms, expressing emotions, discussion and debate

Error correction improves accuracy while ample practice improves fluency

Real Canadian Pronunciation *   (1:00~2:10,2:20~3:30)

Offers supportive and guided practice in relaxed speech

Focuses on recognizing and producing English sounds

Examines individual sounds as well as stress and intonation

Goal is accent reduction and natural sounding speech

College Preparation   (9:00~12:00)

Develops reading, writing, listening & speaking, to post-secondary academic levels

Improves both reading speed and comprehension through timed readings, skimming & scanning exercises

and the group reading of novels used in college and university courses in Canada

Writing work includes the short essay, the research paper, and preparation for the TOEFL essay

iBT TOEFL    (1:00~3:30)

Test preparation course develops academic skills in listening, grammar and reading

Course is divided between listening comprehension, structure & written expression (grammar),

reading comprehension and TOEFL vocabulary

A complete practice exam (CBT) is administered every second week

Academic Communication  (9:00~12:00)

A test preparation course for the new TOEFL iBT

Intensive practice and evaluation of listening and speaking skills

Speaking module teaches how to organize thoughts and respond clearly to different academic situations

under timed conditions

Listening module prepares students for the demands of academic lecture comprehension and note-taking

TOEIC ??Official TOEIC test center   (1:00~3:30)

Test preparation course improves students??listening, reading, grammar, and vocabulary

Teaches both content and test strategies

A complete practice exam is administered every two weeks

Medical English  (9:00~3:30)

Addresses the needs of internationally trained medical staff whose first language is not English

Focuses on relevant medical terminology, vocabulary and workplace communication skills

Explores health issues in Canada through lecture, video presentation and examination of local medical institutions)

VIC ??College Partnership Program

Upon successful completion of VIC Advanced Level 8 and/or College Preparation Level, usual college entrance exams

will be waived and students may directly enter the colleges below:
